As part of an agreement between the New York State Attorney General's office and the New York State Dispute Resolution Association (NYSDRA), Mediation Matters provides arbitration services for Lemon Law cases in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Warren, and Washington Counties. Cases may involve new and used cars, motor homes, motorcycles, and wheelchairs. An arbitration proceeding is less formal, less time consuming, and less expensive than going to court. The arbitration hearing is informal and strict rules of evidence do not apply. Arbitrators listen to each side, review the evidence, and make a binding decision.
Provides conflict resolution services to public housing authority residents in Albany, Troy, Watervliet and Cohoes in conjunction with the Government Law Center of Albany Law School. Also includes services to public housing authority residents in Saratoga County.
In partnership with NYSDRA and the NYS Education Department, the program addresses disputes involving school districts and the parents/guardians of a child with a disability. The dispute can involve the identification, evaluation, educational placement or the provision of a free and appropriate education for the child.
In partnership with NYSDRA, the program addresses issues raised by those receiving NYS Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities.
In partnership with NYSDRA and the NYS Department of Health, the program addresses issues raised by the parents/guardians of those receiving early childhood intervention services due to developmental problems.
